We made it! York recently made World Atlas’  list of ‘7 Towns Perfect For Retirement On The Atlantic Coast’.

 

Those of us who live here already know that our region showcases stunning outdoor landscapes, immaculate beaches and scenic waterfront vistas. But not every town or city offers seniors the perfect setting to embark on a fresh chapter after retiring from their careers.

 

York, along with the other six towns along the Atlantic coast, was noted for seamlessly blending the allure of nature with opportunities for outdoor recreation, providing a relaxed yet vibrant lifestyle perfectly tailored to an active retirement lifestyle.

 

Our abundance of gorgeous beaches, flourishing arts scene, hiking trails, and great golfing helped us make the grade, but we’d like to add a few superlatives of our own. Can we talk about restaurants? Seniors–ok, all of us–never run out of eateries to explore in our area, from the gourmet to down home goodness.

 

Keeping healthy in retirement is vital to most seniors, and York offers not only a noted in-town hospital, but easy access to some of the best healthcare in the world in the nearby cities of Portsmouth, Dover and Boston. And our thriving Center For Active Living offers older adults endless opportunities for socializing, trips, meals and events. For sure, York is a fantastic place for young couples to raise a family, but we are proud to be among the best of the best for the chapter of our lives that comes when those kids are all grown up!
