North Hampton NH Town Info

North Hampton, NH is a small town nestled in the southern seacoast region of the state. With a population of just over 4,500 according to the 2020 census, North Hampton is made up of close-knit neighborhoods: the kind of place where locals get to know each other. You'll hear town issues being discussed while waiting in line at Joe's Meat Shoppe on Atlantic Avenue and find loads of locals over at the Airfield Cafe, watching the planes take off and land.

Originally part of Hampton, NH, the town began to be settled in the 1630s. Though petitioning to separate from Hampton began by 1719, it wasn't until 1742 that North Hampton officially became independent.

Drawn by the beauty of the rocky New Hampshire coast, areas such as Little Boars Head began to sprout fine homes in the 1700s and 1800s. Little Boars Head is now a bona fide Historical District with dozens of fine antique homes overlooking the ocean.

American Presidents and other dignitaries visited the area and built splendid homes near the shore. One of these, Massachusetts Governor Alvan T. Fuller, left his turn-of-the-century estate garden to the enjoyment of the public: elegant Fuller Gardens is open from Mother's Day through mid-October. There is no better place to stop and smell the roses!

North Hampton NH residents enjoy swimming in the Atlantic at North Hampton State Beach during the summer, or playing pickleball and tennis at the public courts at Dearborn Park. There's great sledding to be had at the park in the winter months, too. Sagamore Golf Club--one of America's Top 100 Golf Ranges--makes it possible to golf all summer AND all winter long with it's heated, all-weather hitting stations. Kids of all ages love it here as well because of the fun-tastic mini-golf course!

Moving away from the shore and the oceanfront, residential homes and sprawling farms round out the offerings of homes for sale in North Hampton. Inland is also where you can join friends around a fire pit at the popular Throwback Brewery or pick up some organic veggies at the Governor Dale Farm.
